Tim Smith Fiddle - Baritone Vocals
The Blinkys would like to introduce our newest addition. Tim Smith
joined us in early 2004.
Tim learned to play the fiddle from listening to his grandfather Kilby
Reeves, a great old-time fiddle and early Galax Fiddler's Convention
champion-- and sought after area square dance fiddler. He studied
classical music in the Maryland public school and upon a move to his
family’s home of Sparta, NC, the community to discovered they had
fiddler. He spent hours playing local square dances long before he was old
enough to drive a vehicle.
In 1977 Tim won the prestigious 1st place fiddle prize at the famed "Galax
Fiddlers Convention" at Galax and in 1978 he won the world
championship fiddle prize at the famed Union Grove Fiddlers Convention
at Union Grove, NC. Tim is widely known for his work with the
Bluegrass Cardinals" from 1979 to 1982 but he has also drawn a bow with
likes of Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt and The Nashville Grass, Jim and Jesse
and The Virginia Boys, Jim Eanes, Roy Acuff, Tommy Faile,  Mac
Wiseman, The Country Gazette, Charlie Waller and The Country
Gentlemen, The Johnson Mountain Boys, Del McCoury, and numerous
others down through the years.
Tim created his own record label, " TRS Records, Inc." and spends his
time performing, recording and teaching music
